Thinknx Server Web Interface
The Thinknx server web interface allows you to manage, configure, and monitor the device through a standard web browser, without using additional software.
Through this interface, it is possible to view server information, modify network settings, manage licenses, configure cloud services, perform updates, and use diagnostic tools.
The available functions may vary depending on the server model, installed firmware version, and active licenses.
Warning
Changing the settings available through the web interface may affect the operation of the server and the entire installation.
It is recommended to make changes only when the function of the relevant parameters is fully understood and to create a backup of the settings beforehand.
1. Accessing the Web Interface
To access the web interface, you need to know the IP address of the Thinknx server.
Connect the computer to the same local network as the server and open a web browser.
Enter the IP address of the device in the browser address bar.
Starting from firmware 1.1.10.25, the new web interface is available through HTTPS on port 443.
The previous web interface is also available through HTTP on port 5051.
| Interface | Protocol | Port | Example |
|---|---|---|---|
| New web interface | HTTPS | 443 | https://192.168.1.200 |
| Previous web interface | HTTP | 5051 | http://192.168.1.200:5051 |
The IP addresses shown are examples only and must be replaced with the actual IP address of the server.
Authentication
To access the settings, you must log in using the server credentials.
Once authenticated, the following information is displayed at the top of the page:
- Name of the connected user.
- Date and time of the last login.
- Button to change the password.
- Button to log out.
For security reasons, it is recommended to change the default credentials and not share them with unauthorized users.

The Network Diagnostics section allows you to check the connection status and the reachability of the services required for server operation.
Scroll down to the Network Diagnostics section and click the Check status button.
The page dedicated to checking network connections and services will open.
Click Check network to start the checks.
The diagnostics check the following services:
- Ethernet connection: checks external network resolution, an essential prerequisite for cloud services.
- Thinknx Cloud: checks connectivity to Thinknx Cloud services.
- Remote client connection: checks whether the server can be reached from the Internet through the client port.
- Remote assistance: checks the availability of the service used by Thinknx Technical Support.
- Remote maintenance: checks the connectivity required by the Remote Maintenance service.
- External DNS resolution: checks that the MyThinknx ID points to the server's current public IP address.
Understanding the Results
At the end of the check, each service is identified by a colored indicator representing its status.
- Green – OK: the service is reachable and working correctly.
- Yellow – Warning: some connectivity issues have been detected. The diagnostics indicate the ports or services that cannot be reached. These issues do not necessarily affect all server functions.
- Red – Error: the required connectivity is unavailable and the affected functions cannot be used.
If a yellow or red indicator is displayed, check the diagnostic details to identify the ports or services that cannot be reached.
Not all checked services are required for normal server operation: their availability depends on the functions used in the installation.
For more information about checking the connectivity required for Remote Maintenance, see:
KNX Settings
This section allows you to configure how the KNX settings are used.
The following options are available:
- Overridden: uses the settings defined directly in the web interface.
- From project: uses the settings provided by the Thinknx Configurator project.

After making the required changes, click Save KNX settings changes.
For a complete explanation of KNXnet/IP interface configuration, see:
VNC Server
The VNC section allows you to enable or disable the device VNC service.
The service allows remote access to the server graphical interface through a VNC client.
The port used is:
5900 TCP
To change the service status:
- Select Start VNC or Stop VNC.
- Click Save VNC changes.
It is recommended to use VNC only on trusted networks or through protected remote connections, avoiding direct exposure of the service to the Internet.

This section allows you to associate new Thinknx Portal users with the server and view accounts that are already connected.
To associate a new user:
- Click Associate a user.
- Log in to the Thinknx Portal.
- Complete the association procedure.
Once associated, the user is displayed in the dedicated table.
The page also allows you to view user information and remove existing associations.
Remote Maintenance
The Remote Maintenance function allows the System Integrator to establish a tunnel to the server through the Internet.
The tunnel allows access to the device web interface and allows ETS to be used to perform KNX programming operations remotely.
The page allows you to enable or disable the service and view the current connection status.
Remote Maintenance requires a System Integrator account on the Thinknx Portal and a server associated with the same account.
For details about prerequisites, activation, and ETS configuration, see the dedicated guide:
5.10 Integration Kit
The Integration Kit section allows you to manage the service dedicated to integration with external applications and systems.
Through this function, it is possible to use the integration interfaces provided by the Thinknx server.
For API configuration and usage, refer to the dedicated Integration Kit documentation.
5.11 Memory Status
The Memory Status section allows you to check the health status of the Thinknx server internal memory.
By clicking Start memory check, the server performs a memory verification procedure.
This function is useful for identifying possible problems related to the internal memory of the device.
The procedure may require a server reboot.
Before performing the check, a backup of the settings must be created, since in case of severely damaged memory, problems may occur during the error correction process.
5.12 Language
The Language section allows you to change the language used by the web interface.
The available languages are:
- English.
- Italiano.
- Deutsch.
Select the required language to change how the pages are displayed.
