Scheduled Pulse

The Scheduled Pulse node generates a pulse at a specific time of the day when the value of the Gate connector is equal to 1.

The execution time is defined by the Scheduled Time property, while the pulse duration is determined by the Factor for pulse duration and Time base for pulse duration properties.

Connector Type Description
Gate Input Enables the scheduled pulse generation while its value is equal to 1.
Output Output Generates the scheduled pulse at the configured time.
Property Description
Scheduled Time Defines the time of day at which the pulse is generated.
Factor for pulse duration Defines the numeric factor used to calculate the pulse duration.
Time base for pulse duration Defines the time unit used for the pulse duration.

The Scheduled Pulse node monitors the configured time of day.

When:

Gate = 1

and the current time reaches the value configured in Scheduled Time, the node generates a pulse on the Output connector.

The output remains active for the duration defined by:

Factor for pulse duration × Time base for pulse duration

After the configured pulse duration has elapsed, the output returns to 0.

Conceptually:

Scheduled Time reached + Gate = 1 → Output = 1 for the configured duration

The Gate input acts as an enable condition.
The scheduled pulse is generated only when Gate is active at the configured execution time.

The Scheduled Time property defines the exact time of day at which the pulse must be generated.

For example, if:

Scheduled Time = 08:30

the node evaluates the scheduled event at 08:30.

If Gate = 1 at that time, the output pulse is generated.

The duration of the generated pulse is determined by two properties:

  • Factor for pulse duration
  • Time base for pulse duration

Conceptually:

Pulse duration = Factor for pulse duration × Time base for pulse duration

For example:

Property Value
Factor for pulse duration 5
Time base for pulse duration Seconds

the generated pulse lasts:

5 seconds

During this interval:

Output = 1

After the interval expires:

Output = 0

The Gate input determines whether the scheduled event is enabled.

When:

Gate = 1

the node is enabled and can generate the pulse at the configured time.

When:

Gate = 0

the scheduled pulse is not generated.

This makes it possible to enable or disable the scheduled event dynamically through another logic condition.

Assume the following configuration:

Property Value
Scheduled Time 07:30
Factor for pulse duration 10
Time base for pulse duration Seconds

and:

Gate = 1

At:

07:30

the node generates:

Output = 1

for:

10 seconds

After 10 seconds:

Output = 0

Assume:

Scheduled Time = 18:00

but at 18:00:

Gate = 0

In this condition, no pulse is generated.

If Gate becomes 1 later, the scheduled time has already passed and the pulse is not generated for that scheduled event.

The Scheduled Pulse can be used to generate a short command at a specific time every day.

For example:

Property Value
Scheduled Time 06:00
Factor for pulse duration 1
Time base for pulse duration Seconds

The resulting pulse can be connected to another logic node that reacts to the rising edge of the command.

The Scheduled Pulse node is useful whenever a short digital command must be generated at a defined time of day.

Typical applications include:

  • starting a daily logic sequence;
  • generating a trigger at a specific time;
  • activating a device for a short interval;
  • sending a daily reset command;
  • triggering counters or other logic nodes;
  • enabling scheduled automation functions.

The Scheduled Pulse node can be tested using the Logic Module simulation tools.

A typical test procedure is the following:

  • connect a digital value to the Gate connector;
  • configure Scheduled Time;
  • configure Factor for pulse duration;
  • configure Time base for pulse duration;
  • start the simulation;
  • set Gate = 1;
  • reach or simulate the configured scheduled time;
  • verify that Output becomes 1;
  • verify that the output remains active for the configured pulse duration;
  • verify that the output returns to 0 after the pulse;
  • repeat the test with Gate = 0 and verify that no pulse is generated.
  • The node generates the pulse only when Gate = 1 at the configured time.
  • Scheduled Time defines the time of day of the event.
  • Factor for pulse duration defines the amount of time.
  • Time base for pulse duration defines the unit used for the duration.
  • The output automatically returns to 0 when the pulse duration expires.
  • Make sure that the server date and time are correctly configured when using time-based logic.
  • Use the Gate input when the scheduled event must be enabled or disabled dynamically.
